Where is Hotel California???????

That's the Beverly Hills Hotel on the cover, and is not the hotel of the song.  Nor is a hotel in Mexico which shares the same name, as Henley has denied that rumor.  Sounds like it's based on a rehab center of some sort to me.

On my latest trip back from Montana, I was listening to Hotel California, and I saw this steam rising from the highway, and I had a metaphysical moment.

Where in Montana were you at? Montana is my favorite state.

I spent far too much time wondering about where Hotel California is...........since it isn't a real location.  Granted, the picture on the cover is a real location, but that is NOT the Hotel California of the song, in my mind.

I heard form a college roommate that it was a picture of a place in Camarillo, CA.

BTW, I'm sure you all know this already but if you listen to the words in the song, The Hotel California is supposed represent Hell, so its not an actual physical place..

..especially not one that you'd like to visit!

But, I agree that Hotel California is not an actual place as opposed to a mental condition, as it here, like a runner's high, or a depression.
